Klobuchar has $5.2M reserved for Minnesota Senate race

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar has nearly $5.2 million in reserve for her Minnesota re-election campaign after raising another $1 million during the first three months of 2012.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar has nearly $5.2 million in reserve for her Minnesota re-election campaign after raising another $1 million during the first three months of 2012.

Klobuchar disclosed her fundraising totals Friday in a report to the Federal Elections Commission. The latest fundraising means she has pulled in about $7 million since first winning the seat in 2006.

She carries a substantial cash advantage into the campaign against a yet-determined GOP opponent. Three Republicans vying to be her challenger are either in the early stages of fundraising or have shown little muscle in that department.

One of them, Pete Hegseth, says he gathered $160,000 in his first month as a candidate. Former state Rep. Dan Severson and state Rep. Kurt Bills haven't released first quarter totals.
