(WDAY TV) - A jury in California has cleared a former Fargo police chief of charges of racial discrimination. 7 black, high ranking officers under Chris Magnus' command sued him, claiming Magnus harassed them and denied some of them promotions because of their race.
They wanted 18 million dollars in compensation. Magnus' second in command, Deputy Chief Lori Ritter, along with the city of Richmond were also named in the suit.
The jury threw out all claims of harassment and bias and awarded no damages. Magnus left Fargo for Richmond, California in 2006, after serving as police chief for 7 years.
