With gas prices rising towards $4 per gallon, Senator John Hoeven is introducing a bill to make it easier for retailers to sell different blends of gasoline. At this Petro Serve station in South Fargo a variety of gas and ethanol blends are for sale, but each different type of gas requires its own unique tank.

Hoeven's bill would direct the EPA to set up a program so stations could change the type of gas they sell using existing tanks and give stations protection from law suits should someone put the wrong type of gas in their vehicle. This, he says, should help with the cost of gas.

Senator John Hoeven – (R) North Dakota: “If we make it easier and cheaper to market all these products, that gives the customer more choice and with more choice and more competition you get lower prices.”

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota is a co-sponsor of the bill and Hoeven thinks the White House will also be receptive.
