North Dakota income tax filing deadline extended 2 days

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakotans are getting two more days to file their individual state income tax returns.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakotans are getting two more days to file their individual state income tax returns.

The Internal Revenue Service recently announced it was extending the federal deadline from the traditional April 15 to April 17, and state Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says North Dakota will follow suit.

The reason for the extension is that April 15 falls on a Sunday, and April 16 is the Emancipation Day holiday in the District of Columbia. The D.C. holiday impacts tax deadlines in the same was as federal holidays.
