Victim in California stunt plane crash was UND graduate
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — One of the men killed in the crash of a stunt plane in California was a former University of North Dakota aviation student.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — One of the men killed in the crash of a stunt plane in California was a former University of North Dakota aviation student.
UND records show that 32-year-old pilot George Mellone III, of Yuma, Ariz., graduated in 2007. Authorities say he and 24-year-old co-pilot David Ostendorf, of Salinas, Calif., died Sunday in the crash in a field near the Salinas airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
