Bison Women's Softball vs. Wester Illinois

(WDAY TV) -- The Bison softball team strapped up the gloves for a chilly series finale against Western Illinois. First place in the Summit League on the line.

Leathernecks pitcher Kelsey Michelini was outstanding today, she shut down the Bison, allowing just 4 hits.

The NDSU defense had to be on it's game to keep things close, They were!

Catcher Amanda Grable takes away a stolen base, by throwing a lazer to Brandi Enriquez for the out.

But in the 6th, Western Illinois adds on to a 2-0 lead, when Emma Jarrell swings and watches the wind blow out her 1st career home-run.

The 3-run bomb makes it 5-0 Vistors.

Western Illinois takes the finale, 6-1, and moves into first place in the standings in the process.
