Mandan to Create Alternative High School

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — The Mandan School Board has decided to create space for an alternative high school.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/HWNjJI) that Mandan is the only Class A high school in North Dakota that does not have its own alternative program for struggling students. Those students typically go to South Central High School in Bismarck.

Mandan Superintendent Wilfred Volesky says the district will use the money it was spending on South Central's services to set up its own program. The number of teachers will depend on the number of students. Students already attending South Central will be able to finish their education there.
