(WDAY TV) - Due to dry conditions and high winds, there are burning restrictions in Clay County. Officials say if you have a burning permit, it will not be valid until weather conditions change.

The only way you can get around that condition is if you have permits from the D-N-R and the fire department. If your controlled burn gets out of hand, you will have to pay for the call to firefighters even with the permits.

BILL BERGQUIST - Clay County Sheriff: “In the last week or so we have had many grass fires in Clay County that have gotten out of control, after speaking with the some of the local fire chiefs it was decided that we were going to start restricting burning in hopes of kind of critaile some of these.”

If you have any questions, you're asked to call dispatch.
