An afternoon manhunt turned up no sign of a suspect with a scoped rifle wandering North Fargo. Armed authorities spent hours, scouring the scene for the suspect, but left before finding the man.

The scare happened here on 12th Avenue North around 1 this afternoon. Only one person reported seeing the lone, armed man, crossing this street to the south.

Police quickly blocked off a five block area, all the way to 7th Avenue and I-29. Dozens of squad cars, stopped in the streets. They didn't allow drivers to come into the area.

For two hours, officers combed the scene, looking in any place this man could be hiding here in the industrial park. Many had their guns drawn. There was one unconfirmed sighting of a man running to a truck at the Magnum business.

Officers thoroughly searched there, but found nothing suspicious. All along, the SWAT team was not on scene.

Lt. Jeff Skuza – Fargo Police Department: “We discussed that but we didn't have a specific credible threat to send the SWAT team to and our officers, the patrol officers are well trained and equipped to handle this type of situation. It was decided the SWAT team was not needed.”

There have been no reports of violence. Police, saying, the man may not have even had a gun or had a gun for legitimate reason.
