(WDAY TV) - You have 2 weeks left to file your 2011 tax returns, to beat the April 18th deadline. With the limited time, be sure to take your time in filling out your forms to make sure you don't make a big mistake.

Tax experts say take your time filling out the forms, double checking everything from making sure you've put down the right social security number to signing and dating your forms.

If you are divorced and share custody of children, be sure to decide who will be claiming the children. In fact, experts say it's a good idea to have that spelled out in legal documents. Also, if you've gotten money from something on the side, Uncle Sam wants to know.

PHIL CONDIT, CPA - President, Phil Condit P.C.: "Another thing is just failing to report all their income. We see this occasionally. People will ask 'I received $200 for doing something here that's misc. Do I need to report that? I didn't get a 1099 on it.' The answer is yes, you do need to report it even if you didn't get a 1099 on it.”

And if you don't report income you've received a W-2 or 1099 for, it may very well sent up a red flag on IRS computers, eaning you could face an audit or get a bill from the IRS.
