Plummer, Minn. (WDAY TV) - State officials are trying to determine the environmental threat after more than 30-thousand gallons of petroleum product spilled into a ditch near Plummer, Minnesota. It happened after a semi hit a train on Highway 59 over the weekend.
The driver of the semi, 65-year-old Dale Buzzell from Isanti died in the accident. The liquid spread about a quarter of a mile.
Plummer was evacuated for a couple of hours on Saturday, but allowed to return home after it was determined the fumes were not a threat. Officials are trying to determine the contaminants and if the liquid is deemed to be hazardous. Traffic is still being detoured on Highway 59.
