WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The Red River Valley Speedway is moving races from Wednesday nights to Saturday nights.
Officials at the West Fargo track are making the move to try to boost attendance. Operations manager Cory Back tells The Forum newspaper (http://bit.ly/HODnTm ) that races last year drew between 800 and 1,000 fans, and officials would like to see double or triple that number.
The track was on the brink of closure when Danny Schatz and his family took over and began managing the facility in 2010. Schatz is the father of Donny Schatz, who drives for NASCAR champion Tony Stewart in the World of Outlaws Sprint car circuit. Stewart has raced in West Fargo several times in recent years and is scheduled to do so again this year, on June 20.
