The Deer Management program is coming back for a 6th year in a row in Fargo. The city commission agreed tonight to bring the program back for the 2012-2013 season.
Commissioner Mike Williams said the program has been a success in reducing the urban deer population here in Fargo. Forty-five total permits will be made available to hunters.
The number of deer harvested this season was 21, compared to just 9 last year.
Mike Williams β Fargo City Commissioner: βIt's a good way to manage and a good way to keep it in check. We're always going to have some deer, and turkeys, and it's kind of fun to see them once in a while, as long as they're not a nuisance.β
Every hunter that wants to participate will be required to take a training class before receiving their bow-hunting permit.
