To the men out here pounding posts warm weather means cold hard cash.
Cory Ohnstad – All Finish Concrete: "Instead of having a long winter, guys getting tight on money they can start early."
Corey Ohnstad, with All Finish Concrete, is laying a new driveway in South Fargo. They're starting weeks earlier than other years.
Corey Ohnstad: "Well I say two, three, sometimes it's been May before we started before."
This means that more than 30 people that work for All Finish Concrete get a jump-start in full-time pay. The company can push out a profit a whole lot sooner.
Eric Myren – Estimator, All Finish Concrete: "It's beneficial to our company, employees, and specifically contractors."
Eric Myren, an estimator at All Finish Concrete, says crews are already booked two months out.
Eric Myren: "People are calling all the time, everyone's excited we have a month early start.
Myren says concrete can cost around $1,500 for small residential driveways to $5,000. It's even cheaper now that it's warmer.
Eric Myren: "Saving the costs of ripping frost, and some of the cold weather charges they can eliminate this year."
Myren says it's hard to tell how the extra-long season will help financially, but an early boost in business always helps.
Myren says even if winter weather kicks back in, they can still continue laying concrete. It'll just take a little longer.
