It was a scary moment for drivers on Main Avenue shortly before six this afternoon as a light pole came crashing down. The wind blew this light pole down just east of 4th street on Main Avenue in Fargo.

Nobody was injured and there were no damages to any cars driving by. Police were forced to block west bound traffic from Veterans Bridge to 4th street for almost an hour.

Witnesses say they're just grateful they weren't driving by at the time.

Brendan Gifford - Witness: “It crashed, it kind of made two waves and then all of a sudden it crashed into the ground, it smashed and sounded like crashing glass.”

City crews say events like this are rare, but they have happened in the past.
