A head start on road construction this season may be slowing down business in West Fargo. Main Avenue between 6th Street East and 45th Street will be reconstructed.
In preparation for that work, the frontage road north of Main between 45th and 12th Street and south of Main Avenue between 12th and 5th Streets are being patched up to handle extra traffic. Speeds are now down to 25 miles per hour.
While business owners in this area understand the need for the project, they're also worried about their customers.
Jason Bahls – Bahlstrom’s Power: “Turn up Main Avenue, we're not gonna have a real access to get in here and it's gonna make it really hard for us being as we are a new business, but we'll have to make it up somehow.”
Hartvig Vigen – FM Exhaust & Brake Company: “This wasn't what we were really expected, we expected them to get started a little bit later, normally in May, which would have left us our spring business, which is usually a better time for us.”
Main Avenue west of 45th will go into two lanes for about a block early this week as part of the project. Starting Saturday, traffic will be redirected to the frontage roads and Main Avenue will close.
