The Crookston school district is getting new wiring, computers and laptops the next several years. Students and faculty are excited to get up to speed with technology.

Riley Erickson – High School Senior: “They're really slow and take a lot of time to look things up.”
Whether it's typing up a lesson plan, doing a research paper or simply surfing the web; students and teachers are relying more and more on the internet in the classroom.
After voters approved an operating levy increase of 1-thousand dollars per student in November, new technology is coming into classrooms.
Wayne Gilman – Crookston Superintendent: “We haven't really purchased much for computers since 2006 and we've really fallen behind in terms of how we are wired.”
The School Board entered into a lease agreement allowing for 100 new laptops for teachers, new file servers and wireless network. The district will spend between 100 and 200-thousand dollars a year on the upgrade.
Wayne Gilman – Crookston Superintendent: “It brings us up to speed in terms of where technology is today and we know our community is going to be demanding this kind of wireless connectivity because that's what the future holds.”
More computers will also be added to student labs, making connections faster and easier for those doing schoolwork.
Riley Erickson – High School Senior: “The kids, it would help them a lot, they could look up things faster and it'd be easier.”
The estimated cost of upgrades is half a million dollars.
