A large group of Vietnam Veterans gathered tonight to remember the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Fargo AMVETS Post Number 7 had a Welcome Home celebration.
Part of the night included a flag folding ceremony. Two vets held an American flag, then fold it into a triangle. Each fold has special meaning, like a tribute to our country, armed forces, and parents of the fallen heroes.
Terry Richardson β AMVETS Past Post Commander: βIt actually was mandated by the Department of North Dakota AMVETS. They asked the post to do a celebration for the Vietnam Vets, because they kind of feel they were left behind.β
Flag folding happens during a 21 gun salute as a sign of patriotism and remembrance.
