BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A weekend conference in Bismarck will focus on perceived threats to hunting in North Dakota.
The "Future of Hunting in North Dakota" conference is sponsored by the North Dakota Wildlife Federation and the state chapter of The Wildlife Society and coordinated with the state Game and Fish Department.
Wildlife groups spokesman Mike McEnroe tells The Forum newspaper (http://bit.ly/HgUdej) that there are many threats to wildlife habitat, from the oil boom in western North Dakota to the dwindling number of acres in the federal Conservation Reserve Program.
McEnroe estimates at least 250,000 North Dakota hunters, anglers and other outdoors enthusiasts have a stake in habitat and conservation.
