Chacano sentenced on attempted murder charges

A man convicted after bringing a gun into a western North Dakota Courtroom will spend 60 years in prison. Forty-five year-old Vicente Chacano was sentenced to serve 2 concurrent terms of 20 years in prison for 2 counts of attempted murder. He's already serving 40 years in prison on 2 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition.

Authorities say Chacano took a gun into a Hettinger County courthouse last year and tried to fire it several times after jurors convicted him in a child molestation case. He pulled the trigger several times, but the gun never fired.

Chacano apologized today for causing terror in the courtroom that day.
