The lifestyle of guns and hunting is sometimes considered to be a man's world, but a few groups in Otter Tail County are changing that. In partnership with the Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club, the Otter Tail County Chapter of Pheasants Forever is conducting a “Women's Only” firearms safety training course.

More than two dozen women ages 18-60 attended the class's first organizational meeting. The mostly online course will offer instruction in gun parts, gun operation, safe firearm handling and wildlife conservation.

Jorjan Mason – Taking Firearms Safety Plus: it's definitely more comfortable - especially for me personally because I was like I don't want to take it with 12 year old boys, or however old they have to be because it's just awkward I feel.”

The class also provides for a clay pigeon shoot, outdoor field training and a pheasant hunt in the fall.
