Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Rescue crews pulled a man from the Red River in Fargo last night after he apparently fell off a railroad bridge, shortly before 10:30. Fargo Police say the man was walking across the tracks between Fargo and Moorhead when he fell through an opening into the river.

The man made it to a mud bank by one of the bridge's pillars. A man walking with him went to a home in the 500 block of Oak Street North, asking the homeowner to call 9-1-1 because his "buddy had fallen in the river."

The fire department launched a boat to reach the man who was taken to Sanford Medical Center. Police aren't sure on the extent of his injuries, but say he was "very cold."

It's the second time in less than a week that police have been called to the river. Last Thursday, a 35-year-old man jumped from the Main Avenue Bridge into the water below, telling police someone bet his money to jump in.
