Minot Area Recovery Fund is down to the final 1,200 flood victims

Minot, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Minot Area Recovery Fund is down to the final 12-hundred flood victims able to get reimbursed for recovery expenses.

Of the three thousand, 26 letters sent out, about one thousand people have not responded. Many came to a disbursement meeting.

Community leaders are encouraged, believing the attendance has a lot of to do with future flood protection plans and a mild winter has only helped in rebuilding.

Ken Kitzman with the Minot Area Recovery Fund says, "We know the community foundation is going to play a major role in the rebuilding phase, so we're trying to transition the funding of the recovery part, to the rebuilding of our community, whether it be other housing issues, parks, zoos, whatever role we can play to make that happen."

So far, more than 3.5 million dollars in aid has been given to 17-hundred families.
