Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- For the 2nd day, folks are filling bags--not sandbags for "Feed My Starving Children" in Grand Forks.

More than 100 thousand bags have been packed with food. That's one third of the 300 thousand goal.

People from youth groups and churches geared up and filled bags with rice, dried vegetables, and soy protein to promote growth. Each bag of food costs only 22 cents to make and serves six meals.

Pastor Joh Fick with Sharon Lutheran Church says, "It's a privilege and an honor for our congregation to get involved with the whole community to help feed starving children around the world, so we're delighted that we could be here with other community members to share in this great event."

By tomorrow, volunteers plan to package enough food to feed 830 children a year.
