Rare heart disease caused baby's death at day care

COON RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) — A medical examiner's report says an 8-month-old boy died of a rare heart disease while he was at a Coon Rapids day care last month.

The Midwest medical examiner released its report Friday on the death of David Brigman of Andover.

The boy was in the care of licensed providers at their home Feb. 15 when they put him down for a nap. When they went to wake him, he wasn't breathing. They called 911 and tried to revive him.

The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/GRaon5) reports the state temporarily closed the day care after discovering it failed to follow safe sleeping practices by not placing the infant on his back. But that was not listed as a factor in the death.

It was not immediately clear when the facility would reopen.
