NEW ENGLAND, N.D. (AP) — A southwest North Dakota farmer who lost his home to a grass fire says he resorted to sleeping in his pickup truck.

Eighty-two-year-old Arnold Simon lost everything but his cattle, pickup and one tractor to the fire Monday north of New England. He tells The Dickinson Press (http://bit.ly/GCLhiG) that when he realized there was no place for him to sleep Monday night, he crawled into his truck and closed his eyes.

Simon says he has lived on the farm his entire life and doesn't know what he'll do next. He says he still needs to remind himself that his house is gone. He says neighbors and family members have helped out with such things as food. Simon says he's thinking about getting a house in town.
