Sometime today Fargo Police sent an arrest warrant for 40 year-old Michael Vallar of Kimball, Nebraska. Vallar befriended a 13 year-old Fargo girl on Facebook. In August of last year the girl's mother got on her daughter’s account. While she was on the account, Vallar made contact.
The mother did not reveal her true identity, instead she allowed Vallar to believe she was a young girl. Vallar then requested a nude photo and a picture of the girl's panties. The mother then called police and an investigation began.
Lt. Joel Vettel – Fargo Police: "We really need to establish the elements of the crime ultimately to make an arrest, but more importantly once we have an arrest that person is tried and convicted."
Fargo Police have two officers dedicated to investigating crimes against children. Part of their duties includes monitoring chat rooms and Lt. Vettel says it doesn't take long for several individuals to approach them.
Vallar will be extradited to North Dakota. He'll stand trial in Cass County.
