Fargo charity to celebrate World Water Day

A Fargo charity that helps bring water to people around the globe will be celebrating "World Water Day" this week. Wellspring for the World is hosting a special wine tasting and photo exhibit at Ecce Art Gallery in downtown Fargo Thursday from seven to nine.

Wellspring started in Fargo in 2005. Since then, it has drilled dozens of wells throughout Africa. Money raised locally is matched through the Conrad Hilton Foundation and an anonymous donor.

Maureen Bartelt – Wellspring for the World: “It kind of changes the whole economy of the area. The women and children don’t have to walk miles for clean water and they can get teachers because that is they go for.”

One deep water well can bring safe water to 300 people.
