Financial support may be on the way for flood prevention projects throughout Cass County. The flood sales tax committee suggested funding nearly $170,000 for levy re-certification in Argusville; $350,000 for home acquisitions in Round Hill, and about $21,000 for an environmental assessment of the Upper Maple River Dam. They also allotted funds for projects in Mapleton and Oxbow. The money will come from a half cent sales tax implemented a year ago.
Darrell Vanyo – Flood Sales Tax Committee: “So it wouldn't be collection of a sales tax all for the diversion because it's a county sales tax. It's meant also to help out others throughout the county.”
County commissioners will review the suggestions and make the final decision on how funds are used.
