WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) — A portion of a major highway in western North Dakota's oil patch has been closed after damage to a bridge spanning the Little Missouri River.
Transportation officials say the Long X Bridge along U.S. Highway 85 about 14 miles south of Watford City was struck and damaged by an excavator being hauled on a trailer towed by a truck. The highway was closed Sunday night and officials were inspecting the bridge Monday.
Motorists were being cautioned to use an alternate route.
