BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Three former North Dakota first ladies have been named as the state Democratic electors for this year's presidential contest.

North Dakota Democratic convention delegates picked Grace Link, Jean Guy and Jane Sinner for the job.

Guy is married to former Gov. William Guy, and Sinner is married to former Gov. George Sinner.

Link is the widow of former Gov. Arthur Link. He died in June 2010.

Grace Link says it's an honor for the three women to be chosen.

The president is technically elected by the Electoral College.

North Dakota has three electoral votes. When North Dakotans vote for president, they're voting for a group of three electors who support the candidate.

Republicans will choose their presidential electors later. The Democratic presidential candidate hasn't carried North Dakota since 1964.
