Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- The University of Minnesota President is taking advantage of strong alumni presence in Moorhead.
President Eric Kaler met with local community and university leaders, plus stopped at this rotary club meeting. He's hoping to get public support for higher education.
Kaler says there's a pressure on the university to be excellent, but there's less and less state funding.
Kaler says, "Even though we don't have a campus here, we have an extension office here, we have some medical training activities that go on here, and this is an important part of the state from an economic and political point of view."
Moorhead is home to more than 11 hundred U of M alumni.
