Moorhead Police: Holiday weekend was quieter than expected

Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Even with the pre-warning of increased patrol over the holiday weekend, some people still decided to drink and drive.

Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Even with the pre-warning of increased patrol over the holiday weekend, some people still decided to drink and drive.

One man in Moorhead hit a few cars, then ran over a stop sign, as he left this bar. Even with this, police say the night was quieter than expected.

Moorhead officers got about ten loud party calls and made three DWI arrests.

Lt. Joel Scharf with the Moorhead Police Dept. says, "it is still very surprising to me, given the trends we are seeing with DUI numbers in the city of Moorhead, It is still St. Patrick's Day is a heavy night for people to go out partaking in the festivities, and I would have expected more activity than that."

Fargo police were very busy, dealing with drunk people. They'll have DUI reports tomorrow, but believe that number to be, three.
