Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- St. Patrick's Day is known for it's celebration of Irish culture. But it's also a time of excessive alcohol use.

The green beer is flowing and corned beef and cabbage is being served nice and hot.

Nate Irish(Manager at Dempsey's): "Basically we have been cooking corned beef and cabbage for like 4 and a half 5 days."

Nate Irish has been the Manager at Dempsey's for 6 years. This holiday is one of the bars biggest. Irish expects nearly 5000 partiers to come in and out of the bar throughout the day.

Nate: "We probably do like 4 kegs each so we are looking a 5, 20 kegs of green beer through the day we will go through."

Dempsey's normally opens at 4 p-m everyday. St. Patrick's day is one of the only days the bar opens bright and early at 8 a-m.

Nate : "When we opened this morning I saw probably 10-15 of the same people that I see every year at 8 o'clock in the morning."

One repeat customers is Aaron Duma. He's been making an early appearance for about 5 years now. His favorite parts, like many others, the guinness beer and free chocolate doughnuts.

Aaron Duma (Fargo): "I and a couple co-workers stared coming in and since then we have tried to maintain the tradition."

Duma has been working as a bartender every St. Patrick's Day for as long as he can remember, but he always makes it a point to stop in and get a little celebrating out of the way before his shift.

Aaron: "The doughnuts help for sure, but it definitely requires a nap before going into work."

While Irish will continue living up to his last name, by throwing one of the biggest parties in town, Duma will most certainly be back next year to enjoy that Guinness beer and don't forget chocolate doughnuts.

The bar doubled its staffing, to 20 employees.
