A Fargo couple will make their their case on Monday to renovate the former Leef Cleaners Building downtown into their new home. Keith and Rondi McGovern have applied for Renaissance Zone status. They want tax breaks to help cover the costs of the $1.75 million dollar makeover.

According to the application they could save $130,000 with an exemption of property taxes and an income tax credit, both over 5 years.

The former Leef Cleaners building makes up 29,000 square feet with a basement and two upper floors. They would all be gutted. City staff recommends approval of the project.
