USD women win, UND women lose in postseason

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The season might be over for the South Dakota State University men's basketball team, but the postseason hopes of the University of South Dakota women's team are still alive.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The season might be over for the South Dakota State University men's basketball team, but the postseason hopes of the University of South Dakota women's team are still alive.

South Dakota downed Drake 61-53 in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament Thursday night. The Coyotes host Colorado Monday night in the second round.

The season for the University of North Dakota women's basketball team ended Thursday night when the Fighting Sioux lost 61-47 on the road against Seattle in the Women's Basketball Invitational first round. It was the last game for longtime head coach Gene Roebuck, who's retiring.

The South Dakota State men's team lost 68-60 to Baylor in the NCAA tournament on Thursday night. The SDSU women take on Purdue on Saturday in the women's tournament.
