Fargo's snow-removal budget is coming in way under what the city forecasts for. Last year Fargo used about 13,000 tons; this year just 2,000.
In an average year the city pays about $88,000 in overtime, this year just 14,000. Fuel costs are also way down. Most years nearly $100,000 is spent on fuel, this year just $34,000.
It's a total savings of about $145,000, but the city is reminding people that winter is not over yet.
