Shiloh Christian holds off New Town 53-50

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Paige Emmel had 18 points and five rebounds as Shiloh Chritian held off New Town to post a 53-50 win Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Paige Emmel had 18 points and five rebounds as Shiloh Chritian held off New Town to post a 53-50 win Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament.

Emmel scored the last four points for the Skyhawks (20-6), then blocked a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer to preserve the win. Shiloh led most of the way before the Eagles (24-1) took a 50-49 lead.

Kelly Schindler had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Shiloh and Beth Muggerud added 10 points.

Mia Wilkinson led New Town with 20 points. She was 7-for-11 from the field and made all six of eight free throws. Gabrielle Wilkinson had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
