EGF Family Staying Strong Through a Very Tough Year

An East Grand Forks man has been through a lot over the last year.

A heart attack, a car accident and now, his biggest battle so far, intestinal cancer.

Roger Beauchamp's family feels like they have had too much bad luck over the past year and with medical expenses, it only makes things worse. An upcoming benefit thrown by family is giving them hope.

Justin and Kristin Beauchamp have watched their father go through quite a tough year.

"Very hard, it breaks my heart, very hard," Kristin said.

"Hoping he'd get better after his heart attack and he just never really got his energy back," Justin said.

As the family looks through pictures, they remember all Roger Beauchamp has been through, just in one year. Roger was layed off from his job, and then suffered a heart attack leading to quadruple bypass surgery. After he found a new job, he had a car accident on the second day of work and couldn't return.

After months of pain, around Thanksgiving, Roger heard the news that he had intestinal cancer.

"It gets pretty tough sometimes and hard to do. I wish I could do more somehow to help him with things too, but that's what's out of my hands and that's a lot of stress there," Roger's wife Susan said.

"And no sleeping," Roger said.

Chemotherapy and radiation take a toll on Roger and all the medical expenses start piling up after a while.

The Beauchamp kids are doing their best to help by throwing a benefit.

"Doing some catch up from last summer. Get caught up on the mortgage and just mainly to take away some burdens," Justin said.

"I just want my mom and dad to be happy and healthy," Kristin said.

The benefit for Roger is on February 24th from 5 to 10 p.m. At the Eagles Club in East Grand Forks.

Donations can be made at Frandsen Bank "The Roger Beauchamp Fund"
