SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The city of Sioux Falls is willing to put a company's name on its new events center if the business is willing to pay the price.
City officials are starting the process of selling the naming rights soon. Construction of the $115 million events center is starting this summer.
A Cleveland consultant says the city could bring in more than $13 million over 20 years for the naming rights.
City community development director Darrin Smith tells the Sioux Falls Argus Leader (http://argusne.ws/xGe6bR) the naming rights business is "uncharted territory." Smith says a half-dozen businesses are interested in bidding.
In Fargo, N.D., the Fargodome events center hasn't sold its naming rights. General manager Rob Sobolik says no one wants to pay the city's $5 million minimum price for 10 years.
