Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- New technology is coming to Altru in Grand Forks.
The hospital is being awarded 85 thousand dollars by the American Heart Association's Mission Lifeline program. The money will go to monitors for ambulances. The upgrade will allow paramedics to do EKGs, that are immediately sent to the hospital for doctors to read. This may let patients bypass the ER and be taken straight to the cath lab.
Art Culver, Altru Ambulance Manager, says, "We are totally ecstatic about this. It's a great thing for the State of North Dakota. For all of our population."
Mission Lifeline has donated more than 7 million dollars to improve care for heart attack patients in North Dakota.
