Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Fargo Public Schools is closer to finding it's new superintendent.

An Iowa company is narrowing down the candidate search. A representative talked about the 8 semi-finalists with school board members. There were 206 candidates originally.

Board members are reviewing candidates' backgrounds, work histories, and qualifications. The finalists are from Indiana, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and North Dakota.

Jim Johnson, the Fargo School Board President, says, "if we have strong candidates out of this group from the boards perspective, then we will have what ill call the finalists in for an interview with several different stake holder groups."

Interviews will likely be next month.
