Metro area welcomes 31 new Americans

The FM area welcomed 31 new citizens this morning as Concordia College hosted a naturalization ceremony this at the Knutson Campus Center. The new citizens represent 15 different countries including Vietnam, Somalia and the Philippines.
After taking the oath, they listened to a United States District Court Judge as he reminded them of their rights to vote and serve on a jury. Dimitri Boreisha took the oath of citizenship today along with his father.
Dmitri Boreisha – New Citizen: “America is a very great country and with American citizenship, it's a lot easier to travel abroad and you just have a lot more opportunities and chance in this country to be anything you want to be and do whatever you want to do.”
The ceremony also featured a video message from President Obama.
