Metro area welcomes 31 new Americans

Fargo-Moorhead (WDAY TV) - The FM area welcomed 31 new citizens this morning as Concordia College hosted a naturalization ceremony this at the Knutson Campus Center. The new citizens represent 15 different countries including Vietnam, Somalia and the Philippines.

The FM area welcomed 31 new citizens this morning as Concordia College hosted a naturalization ceremony this at the Knutson Campus Center. The new citizens represent 15 different countries including Vietnam, Somalia and the Philippines.

After taking the oath, they listened to a United States District Court Judge as he reminded them of their rights to vote and serve on a jury. Dimitri Boreisha took the oath of citizenship today along with his father.

Dmitri Boreisha – New Citizen: “America is a very great country and with American citizenship, it's a lot easier to travel abroad and you just have a lot more opportunities and chance in this country to be anything you want to be and do whatever you want to do.”

The ceremony also featured a video message from President Obama.
