Grand Forks Red River beats Mandan 69-55 at State A

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Mack Arvidson had 21 points and six rebounds to lead Grand Forks Red River into the title game of the North Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament with a 69-55 semifinal win over Mandan on Friday.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Mack Arvidson had 21 points and six rebounds to lead Grand Forks Red River into the title game of the North Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament with a 69-55 semifinal win over Mandan on Friday.

Arvidson was 7-for-14 from the field and had two of the Roughriders' four 3-pointers.

Red River (22-2) led 31-19 at the half and stretched the lead over 20 points in the second half. The Roughriders were 23-for-29 from the free throw line.

John Hoplin chipped in 13 points.

Mandan (18-6), which came into the tournament as the West Region's top team, got a team-high 16 points and four steals from Erron Collins.

Devin Coyle added 13 points and Seth Westby 12 for the Braves, who made just 20 of 63 shots from the field.
