FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (AP) — The Spirit Lake tribe in North Dakota is getting a $1 million grant to construct or make improvements to five sewer lift stations in Fort Totten.

The money is through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development agency. State Director Jasper Schneider says the grant will help alleviate stress put on the community's wastewater system by the flooding Devils Lake.

The system has 225 residential and 31 commercial users.
