The 75th annual winter show is taking over Valley City. There are hundreds of booths, food, and fun for everyone.
While many people come to the Winter Show to look at the latest farm equipment, vendors, and show horses, many go to look at the rare antiques.
Carole Bode – New Ulm, MN: “This is fun. I like meeting people and seeing new places and we travel all over the United States doing this.”
After Carole Bode was told by a friend about the show, she knew she had to pack up her unusual gems and hit the road.
Carole Bode: “Nice crowd, good attendance, no complaints.”
Bode has some of the most unique items; things like this ancient cigar lighter and these bronze candle stick holders from the Victorian era.
Carole Bode: “I like unusual things, so there might be something that nobody has seen before I might have it in my booth.”
While this may be some people’s first show, other antiquers have been selling their unique finds at this winter show for years.
Richard Birklid – Ft. Ranson, ND: “Well since they started and I don't remember the year, but I was here ever year and never missed one.”
Richard Birklid has been collecting things since he was just a kid. His collecting has now turned into full obsession.
Richard Birklis: “Postcards are my big thing, especially the photo ones, the main streets of North Dakota, or tractor ones, I am big into collecting.”
While people are still going to be enjoying the usual festivities of the Winter Show, other are going to surely be buying and selling little pieces of history.
This year the show will have its first ever antique auction. The show runs through Sunday.
