The next few weeks are going to be busy for those involved with the F-M Diversion Project. There are several upcoming community meetings.
The FM Diversion Authority will be holding community meetings in Wahpeton, Oxbow and Hickson by the end of the month and plans to hold a special meeting for business affected by the diversion on April 3rd.
The more recent meeting have been smaller and the outreach board thinks that has led to a better discussion.
Rodger Olson – FM Diversion Authority: “I understand how difficult it is to sit across the table from us to discuss what might happen to their property, to their homes.”
The next round of meetings will be larger in scope like the earlier ones and be led by the Army Corps. While the outreach committee of the diversion authority will continue with meetings, some of their new information will have a different target.
Daron Selvig – Environmental Services: “I think in the next few weeks, perhaps months, you’re going to see more of an effort at letting everybody know with in Fargo-Moorhead and the surrounding communities protected by the diversion exactly how it protects them and what kind of timeline that we might be looking at.
So in the coming months not only will the physical planning continue, so will the information campaign on the diversion benefit and effects. The diversion authority says the meetings are only for residents of specific communities.
