With the numerous devastating tornadoes that hit several states last week, many people were left with nothing.
From Friday into Saturday nearly 100 tornados touched down in about 10 states, killing nearly 40 people. Now, the local Salvation Army is accepting donations to help those in need.
Disaster relief coordinator Steve Carbno says they are not being choosy; they just don't have the means to store and ship bigger things like furniture and water. No one from Fargo has gone to an affected area, but Carbno says their bags are packed and they are ready to go if need be.
Steve Carbno – The Salvation Army: “To spend the money to get that all together here and ship it down, it's really not a very efficient way so, what works the best for us is the cash donations because we can access the immediate needs and then purchase those within the community.”
We in the F-M area have seen our own share natural disasters so Carbno expects people in our area will want to help any way they can.
If you would like donate you can send checks to your local Salvation Army or you can donate online.
