With 10 other states up for grabs, the Ron Paul campaign felt North Dakota was the best place to be for this Super Tuesday, and for his fans and supporters, his speech didn't disappoint.
It was vibrant, loud, and youthful crowd here at the Ramada Plaza to listen to current presidential candidate Ron Paul give his speech. Despite being in fourth place heading into the night, with this crowd, you would've thought he was the front-runner.
Congressman Ron Paul – (R) Presidential Candidate: “I believe it is the offering up of a program that emphasizes personal liberties, the constitution, sound monetary policy, and a sensible foreign policy is the reason the momentum is building and we are getting such a strong, great reception here in North Dakota.”
He may be the oldest of the presidential candidates, but Congressman Ron Paul has reeled in very loyal, young following. Of all four candidates, the loudest of ovations overwhelming came from Paul supporters.
Ron Paul: “If we go to war, if the wars have to be fought, they should be fought, won, get them over with and get the troops back home.”
In a message that featured dozens of references to the free market and personal liberties, Congressman Paul made a hefty promise if elected.
Ron Paul: “What I propose in my first year is to cut the budget in real terms by 1 trillion dollars.”
Many may think it’s too little, too late, but for this twelve term congressman, nothing is over yet.
Ron Paul: “The limited government that we should have in a constitutional republic should be designed to protect our liberties and nothing else. That should be the responsibility of the government.”
It is important to keep in mind North Dakota is a non-binding state. So while delegates are expected to vote proportionately with tonight's results, come time of the convention, they don't necessarily have to.
