Grand Forks, ND (WDAZ Sports) - UND Head Coach Brian Idalski had to hear about percentage points after narrowly missing out of the national tournament one year ago. Today, the only math he needs to know is that his team has a 1 in 8 shot at winning a national title.

The Sioux found out this afternoon that they earned a spot in the national tournament for the first time in program history. Even better, they'll open against their biggest rival.

The Sioux play Minnesota at Ridder Arena on Saturday at 4 o'clock. The Gophers hold a 3-2 lead in the season series,

including a semifinal win at the WCHA final face-off. Wisconsin earned the number one seed in the 8-team field, but for Idalski this feeling has been a long time coming.

BRIAN IDALSKI - UND: 1st National Tournament Appearance: “There is a lot that goes into building a program. We just didn't all of the sudden get really good and get to this point. It took a lot of kids buying in and working hard and establishing a culture and a foundation. So, I'm happy for everyone whose ever worn a sweater because they should all feel like a big part of it.”
